New Year’s Eve in New York City

Ringing in 2020 in the Big Apple

With another year in the books, we’re ready to ring in 2020 in style, grace, and of course, epic amounts of fun. With the promise of a fresh start on the horizon, a new year makes everything look a little brighter and shine just a little sweeter, and there’s no better way to kick off that fresh start than with a sparkling, over-the-top fête with family, friends and loved ones. Manhattan never has a shortage of dazzling celebrations, but here are a few to ensure your 2020 starts off on the right foot:

The World-Famous Ball Drop in Times Square

If you want to check off a bucket list item, head on over to Times Square, conveniently located within walking distance from The ROW nyc. Admission is free but the crowds are hectic; it’s estimated that over one-million people gather in the famous square each year. If you’re prepared to wait for a place in the crowd and handle the people, you’ll be treated to the most iconic New Year’s celebration in the world. The celebration started in 1904, but it was in 1907 that the New Year's Eve Ball made its maiden descent. Now, the celebration includes a live airing hosted by Ryan Seacrest and performances by the biggest names in music that set the stage for the evening’s culmination, the dropping of the iconic Waterford Crystal Times Square New Year's Eve Ball.

Take in the Fireworks

Head over to Prospect Park for stunning views of the city’s fireworks. As one of the most beautiful parks in New York, the picturesque scenery is worth a trip alone. Perfect for those who want their New Year’s celebration without the hassle of the velvet ropes, this is a great option- complete with hot chocolate, and live entertainment by DJ C. Live and the Brooklyn Mash It Up Band. This annual fireworks celebration is located at the Grand Army Plaza, the Park’s West Drive, and along Prospect Park West between Grand Army Plaza and 9th Street, so bundle up, grab your loved one, and get ready to ring in 2020.
