Fall into Fitness

The Fall’s Best Way to Stay Fit in the City

Now that summer is gone, the forgiving layers of fall wardrobes, Halloween treats, and Thanksgiving dinners can often result in saying ‘goodbye’ to our summer bodies and ‘hello’ to those pesky holiday pounds. However, with the abundance of fitness events and offerings throughout the City, it’s easy to indulge in activities that are good for the body, as well as the soul. Whether you are visiting New York City on vacation or are a local looking to change up your usual fitness routine, New York houses some of the world’s best gyms, cycling studios, and outdoor offerings that make fitness accessible and fun. So don your workout gear and get ready to sweat with some of the fall’s best fitness offerings. From those who are just beginning their fitness journeys to workout junkies, there’s something for everyone to stay fit in the fall:

CYC at Row NYC

With various studios around the city, and one conveniently onsite at Row NYC, Cyc has become New York’s premiere cycling destination for spin enthusiasts. The Cyc Method, designed by Keoni Hudoba, an Under Armour sponsored athlete, offers an exhilarating beat-based, 45-minute ride that activates the whole body, the whole time. By incorporating weights into sectors inspired by more than 20 different sport moves, the Cyc experience takes the boutique indoor cycling studio concept beyond the bike. Cyc is the ultimate fitness experience for those seeking a more challenging workout, and for Row guests, the convenient location make this a must-do for your fitness itinerary.

The facility offers a variety of tracks and challenges, which accommodate climbers of all skill levels. Passes start at only $9. Following your workout, enjoy the 3.5-acres and spectacular views of Brooklyn Bridge along with rotating art installations and botanical gardens.

Ice Skating in The City

For those who prefer lighter physical activity, ice-skating in one of the city’s many rinks provides a perfect and festive exercise option. This winter tradition mixes fun with fitness in such a way that it doesn’t even feel like exercise. An exciting night out with friends and family or a romantic date night adventure, ice-skating in New York is at the top of every bucket list, for both visitors and locals alike. The variety of parks throughout the City offers a plethora of unique amenities to enjoy alongside skating, from the stunning skyline views at Wollman Rink (open late-October through March) to the famous tree in Rockefeller Center. Winter Village in Bryant Park is Midtown’s Winter Wonderland, featuring holiday shops and stalls, restaurants and pop-up eateries, and The Rink, the centerpiece of Winter Village and New York City’s only free admission ice skating rink.
