New York Fashion Week is almost upon us. Scheduled for seven fabulous days, September 7th through the 14th will bring the industry’s most pinnacle event to the heart of the city. As the world’s fashion elite descend upon Manhattan, the city swarms with excitement, buzz, and the genetically blessed.
Whether you are simply roaming the streets of New York or have somehow nabbed a ticket to the season’s hottest show, we’re here to help you look and feel your best among the models, celebrities, style gurus, and fashion editors alike. The beauty experts at Glam & Go, the in-house salon and official beauty partners at Row NYC, have given us the inside scoop on the top hair trends and styling tips for the season.
Dubbed, “the app that launched a 1000 blowouts,” these leaders in the New York beauty scene have become the go-to for New York’s on-the-go women who need to look amazing with limited time. With the most convenient locations, top stylists, affordable membership options and even 15-minute express services, Glam & Go makes great hair days quick, accessible and easy. Mary Fletcher, one of Glam & Go’s leading stylists, shares her top tips to get this season’s hottest hair:
1. KEEP IT SLEEK & HEALTHY
“One of the biggest hair trends of 2017 is super sleek, straight hair; that is actually healthy. I recommend a heat protectant that has a mild styling hold. One of my Holy Grail products for this is Redken’s Iron Shape 11. This will keep your locks not only in place, but full of life after the blowout.”
2. BRAIDS ARE BIG THIS SEASON
“Bohemian braids are popping up almost everywhere this summer. Simply adding a few loose, free hanging braids to your standard textured beach waves will completely transform your look and give you island-ready in an instant!”
3. BAKING SODA IS AN AT-HOME WONDER
“Since the summer generally takes a toll on our hair, it’s so important that we don't compromise the integrity of it with overexposure to sunlight, chlorine, and salts. One of my favorite at home remedies is to mix baking soda and water into a paste, and apply to your hair pre-shampoo for a DIY clarifying treatment. This is quick, cheap, and super effective to make your hair as healthy and beautiful as possible.”
4. BEACHY WAVES SANS THE SAND
“Creating a perfect tousled beach wave sans the beach sounds impossible - but never underestimate the power of damp hair, salt spray, and a messy bun. Once your hair is dried – simply release from the bun and finger comb through for a natural and textured look.”
5. MORNING ROUTINE MADE EASY
“My favorite tip to share with my clients looking to make the most out of their blowout is simple - only overdose on dry shampoo before bed, not while you're getting ready in the morning. Allowing the dry shampoo to absorb the oil overnight makes the most of the product - and makes for an easier morning routine, too.”
