New York’s Best Karaoke Bars
The Best Places in The City to Bring out Your Inner Rock Star
Whether you’re a belter of ballads, prefer pop, or relish in 80’s rock, karaoke never fails to bring out the inner exhibitionist in all of us. Even if it takes a little liquid courage to grab the mic, there’s no denying that karaoke is a fail-safe plan for an epic night out. New York is home to some of the best karaoke bars in the world, with an array of options that allow you to either take center stage in a room full of strangers, feel like a VIP in your own private room, or laugh alongside fabulous drag queen hosts. Here’s a cheat sheet of some of our favorite karaoke spots in the city.
Conveniently located just steps from the ROW nyc, Vodka Soda/Bottoms Up is considered one of the best LGBT bars in the city, with two floors, two bars, and drink specials served up all night long. Their famous Wednesday night karaoke, Holding Out For a High Note, is a drag queen karaoke night that is too fun for words. Fair warning, though, those who take to the stage at this establishment have broadway-worthy voices, and the talent is so insane it can cause both awe and intimidation. Whether you decide to sing or not, it’s worth stopping by to listen to the hilarious hosts heckle the crowd and hear the amazing talent that takes to the stage.

With two locations, these karaoke bars are as cool as the East Village in which they both reside. The spots aren’t fancy, and are a bit run down, but that only somehow heightens the fun. Sing Sing is considered an iconic New York’s classic karaoke spot, and both locations boast private rooms. However, the scenes in the main bars are almost too fun to walk away from. With a friendly crowd and even friendlier drink prices, we strongly encourage bringing out your inner diva and taking to the main stage.

Open in Midtown Manhattan since 2003, Chorus Karaoke is a neon-drenched playground of karaoke fun. With both private rooms and an open bar with a main stage, Chorus Karaoke is perfect for a group night out. In addition to the main lounge, Chorus offers full bar service to each private room, making guests feel like a true VIP, while also enabling visitors to bypass the song queue. The place prides itself on a constantly updated song list, ensuring that guests can sing anything from classic tunes to today’s hottest hits.

Decked out in zebra couches and bright red walls, this East village karaoke bar offers a great 2 for 1 happy hour, making it even easier and more affordable to gather liquid courage. The spot is a dive bar of pure fun, ensuring a night out on the town that’s casual and easygoing. Wireless mics allow guests to sing from wherever they are sitting, and the laid-back atmosphere and cheap drinks have made it a favorite for both tourists and locals alike.
