Winter Cocktails V. 2.0

Top Tricks for Preparing The Perfect Holiday Bird

When winter hits the city, it really, really hits, and tourists and locals alike brave the elements with scarves, gloves, and our favorite method to beat the chill - a really good cocktail. Boozy coffees, spiked ciders, and even a few bubbly libations are the perfect anecdotes to the chillier temperatures and snowy evenings in New York City. Here’s this year’s list of some of our favorite drinks to get you through a cold winter’s night.

Park Avenue Tavern

There’s few winter cocktails as famous as a classic Irish coffee. The simple mixture of whiskey, caffeine, and a dollop of cream feels like pure comfort and warms from the inside out. And while there’s no shortage of spots around the city to grab this winter staple, we love Park Avenue Tavern’s no-fuss version of the drink. Made with Slane Irish Whiskey, fresh brewed coffee, simple syrup, and house-made sweet cream, we think it’s a version that even the Irish would be proud of.

Mother’s Ruin

For those who prefer tea to coffee, a hot toddy is the softer, sweeter sister of the Irish coffee, and one of our favorites is the version found at this Nolita favorite. This local favorite was founded in 2011 and is a perfect blend of a casual neighborhood joint alongside perfectly made cocktails. They’re famous for their hot toddy, which is made with orange marmalade, honey, lemon, cloves, and cinnamon.

District M

Located onsite at the ROW nyc, District M comes alive in the evening hours featuring a commissioned digital art gallery by paparazzo extraordinaire, Ron Galella. Guests can experience a unique bar ambiance at a central location that is steps away from Times Square. For those who want something a little brighter during the winter months, their Poolside on 8th transports patrons to the months of sun and summer. Guests can sip on this cocktail from the warmth of the lively bar and enjoy the flavors of Pommery Brut Royal, Grey Goose Vodka, Blue Curacao, and ginger.

The Lamb’s Club

Owned by Geoffrey Zakarian, yes, that Geoffrey Zakarian of Food Network fame, this upscale eatery is one of the city’s most revered and lauded spots to dine and drink. The atmosphere is upscale and reservations are as easy to come by as a winning lottery ticket, but the bar also serves up one of our favorite cocktails to embrace the season. Indulge in the kitchen’s sticky toffee pudding alongside the Alpaca Punch, made with pisco, pumpkin, nutmeg and cinnamon syrup, toasted pecan bitters, and egg white.
