Celebrate The Luck of the Irish with these Top Events and Activities

It’s almost that time of the year when four-leaf clovers, green beer galore, and one of the year’s most fun and festive holidays take center stage. In honor of Saint Patrick, Ireland’s most celebrated and honored patron saint, the 17th of March always brings the spirit of the Irish, and the events and activities surrounding it are pure gold. Get ready to don your green gear, because this year Saint Patty’s Day falls on a Sunday, making an always festive holiday even better. Here are some of the city’s biggest and best events celebrating Ireland’s favorite holiday:

The New York St. Patrick’s Day Parade

“Marching on the streets of New York since 1762,” the famous parade begins at 11:00 a.m. at 44th Street, proceeding up Fifth Avenue (past St. Patrick's Cathedral, of course), and finishing at the American Irish Historical Society. Perfect for families, the parade hosts over 250,000 marchers and two million spectators annually. Included in the lineup are university and high school bands from all over the country, all led by the parade’s Grand Marshall.

Annual St. Patrick’s Day Open Day

Irish Arts Center, Hell's Kitchen

Mar 10 2019

If parades aren’t your thing, visit The Irish Arts Center for their Annual St. Patrick’s Day Open. This fun-filled, Irish extravaganza, which is free to the public, will be entertaining the masses with a day of Irish arts and culture, tea service, and live performances featuring Irish musicians and the country’s famous stepdancing (does anyone else love Riverdance as much as we do?). Guests will also have the opportunity to partake in classes and activities that include: the basics of Irish language, dancing, face painting, and arts and crafts for children.

Irish Pub Crawl

For those seeking a more adult-focused celebration, get your day drinking on with the annual St. Paddy’s Luck of the Irish Pub Crawl. Get ready to gorge on green beer, as over fifty bars are participating this year. A fun way to meet fellow revelers, the event is spread throughout all of Manhattan, with participating locations in the East Village, Murray Hill, Chelsea, and Midtown West.

Participants will begin the day by meeting at a registration bar, where the event staff will provide a St. Patricks Day wristband, the full map of venues participating, and an overview of drink specials for the day.

Get ready. Go Green. Have Fun. And of course, drink responsibly!
